The Yaozhou kilns
The Yaozhou kilns, in Huangpu, Shaanxi province refined the art of surface decoration by means of carving and moulding, in parallel with the white ware-making Ding kilns in Hebei. The best Yaozhou ceramics are masterpieces– the equal of any of their contemporaries, although not included among the ‘five famous kilns’ of the Song dynasty, such as Ru, Guan, Ge, Jun and Ding.
