Offering vessels and merit making
The making of offerings to the monkhood (food, cloth, books and ritual objects) is one of the important injunctions on the laity in Buddhist society. Through giving, lay Buddhists accumulate merit and in this way ensure better prospects for their next lives. Giving, therefore, benefits both parties.
