Longquan celadons are the best-known Chinese ceramics after blue and white ware. These ceramics have been admired and collected all over the world, from Japan to western Europe. In China itself, the Longquan kilns came to prominence during the early Southern Song dynasty. The repertoire of shapes was drawn from many contemporary media, including silver, lacquer, archaic jade, bronze and other types of ceramics.
