Koh Ker sculpture

When King Jayavarman IV (ruled 928–941) seized power, he moved the court to his home territory of Koh Ker, 120 km northeast of Angkor, the previous capital. In the new capital the king built a vast complex of sanctuaries dedicated to Shiva, grouped around a seven-tiered 36m-high pyramid. Koh Ker period sculptors (928–944) developed the most dynamic and dramatic art style in Khmer history.
