Water pot (Kendi)

Sawankhalok celadons from the kilns of Sukhothai are highly valued. Their colour results from high-firing green glazes with reduced iron oxide content in a kiln with an insufficient supply of oxygen. The colour varies greatly; it is homogenous, thick and the best examples are from the mid-15^th century displaying a charismatic blue-green hue (celadon). By the late 15th century, this colour degenerated to an olive green.
