Jun wares (Junyao) are among the most fascinating Chinese ceramics. Unlike most glazed wares, Jun colour is not related to mineral oxides. Current theory holds that it is generated by the phenomenon known as liquid-liquid, and these sorts of colours are described as ‘optical’ as opposed to mineral based ones.
