‘True’ porcelain
Firing the objects at around 1200 °C resulted in hard, dense pottery which was far superior to the northern low-fired earthenware and thus the predecessor of ‘true’ porcelain. Although they would have been practical for daily use, at that time ceramics were still associated with the tomb rather than the table.
