King Jayavarman VI
King Jayavarman VI built no state temple in Angkor. However, in the last two decades of the 11th century, he began construction of a vast Buddhist-Hindu complex at Phimai, in now northeast Thailand, which was the model for the future colossal Angkor Wat temple. In Phimai, image of the Buddha appeared crowned and wearing courtly jewellery, as it is the case of two rare bronzes in the Phimai tradition.
